I have spent the last 25 years dedicating my professional career to inspiring others to “think different with data”. In my data journey I have been at the forefront of data science, artificial intelligence, data storytelling, and I have a unique ability to transform data into action.

Good data stories lead to conversations - which lead to action.

Highlights from Charlie’s Data Journey

  • Started two data institutes that focused on real world problems, such as burglaries, human trafficking, health equity, etc.

  • 25 years experience as an educator with over 1,000 students placed in their first job.

  • Built an undergraduate and graduate degree in data science, MS in business analytics and information security, and a graduate certificate in data science.

  • Created and hosted over 20 “data hackathons” within schools and the community.

  • 7 time finalist for a Nashville Technology Council Award.

    • 2018 NTC Community Leader of the Year

    • 2020 NTC Data Scientist of the Year

    • 2023 NTC Community Leader of the Year

  • 6 time Nashville Post IT In Charge (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024)

  • Awarded over $5 million in grants.

  • Board member for Blacks in Technology - Nashville, Nashville Technology Council, Hytch Awards, LLC, and Special Kids Therapy and Nursing.

  • Co-host of the Data 4 All podcast, which just wrapped up its 5 season and over 50 episodes.

  • Fun facts:

    • A race director for over 50 running and triathlon events, including 5K, 10K, 15K, Half Marathon, and sprint distance triathlons.

    • Participated in several ultra marathons, including 50 milers, 41.2 mile race, and his favorite - a 3 mountain stage race over 3 days for 60 miles.
